Mark Anthony Talion Viñas (b. 1983), is a versatile visual artist hailing from the picturesque town of Tinambac, Camarines Sur, before he ventured to Catanduanes, where his earliest memories of artistic expression took root. At the tender age of five, Mark’s innate passion for drawing manifested itself as he left impromptu sketches on the earth with a humble stick, a precursor to his mastery of pencil and paper. Recognizing his burgeoning talent, Mark’s family, educators, and peers rallied behind him, fostering and refining his innate gift.

Mark’s artistic journey reached a turning point when he assumed the role of Art Editor at the CSC Statesman, the official student publication of the Catanduanes State Colleges. A groundbreaking achievement saw Mark become the first Catanduanes student to clinch the Highest Pointer Award, conferred by the Bicol Association of Tertiary Schools Publication Advisers. Further cementing his reputation, he was honored as one of the Top 5 Higher Individual Pointers at the Luzon-wide Higher Education Press Conference Individual Competition. Alongside his editorial pursuits, Mark was an active student legislator at his institution.

Drawing inspiration from his family and divine beliefs, Mark is dedicated to fusing faith and art through various mediums and approaches, crafting thought-provoking pieces. Continuously pushing artistic boundaries, he seamlessly blends realism and abstraction, experimenting with a diverse array of mediums, including pencil, watercolor, acrylic, oil, and collage. His artistic odyssey has carried him both locally and internationally, with exhibitions spanning from 2015 onwards. Mark’s membership in esteemed organizations like the Art Association of Novaliches in 2018 and the Filipinas Institute for the Advancement of Arts and Culture (FILARTS) in 2019 underscores his growing influence in the art world. Notably, he unveiled his debut solo exhibition in 2017 at Word International Christian Ministries in Quezon City, followed by participation in group exhibitions across diverse locales. His artistry has transcended borders, with exhibitions held in Singapore (July 2019), QingDao, China (September 2019), and Penang, Malaysia (February 2020). Mark Anthony Talion Vinas’s artistic journey is a testament to his unwavering commitment to exploring the intersection of faith and art, captivating audiences both near and far with his compelling creations.
